These Trimline cam locks can mount on most single-hung and double-hung vertical sliding windows constructed of wood, vinyl and aluminum. Each lock features a cam-type mechanism that is designed to draw the keeper in firmly towards the lock, providing your windows with tighter seals, better weatherizing, and increased security. They are constructed of durable diecast zinc, and come in a corrosion-resistant, industry standard white-painted finish to match other existing hardware that may already be in the home. Depending on the size of the sash, these locks can be used as singles or in pairs. Each set includes one lock and keeper, installation fasteners and simple instructions. Installation of these sash locks is easy and can be done with a simple handheld Phillips head screwdriver. Other design features include cam-action fastening and 2-1/4 inch mounting hole centers on both the lock and keeper. These sash locks mount on vertical sliding windows where the checkrails (also known as "meeting rails") of both the inner and outer sash rest flush. This sliding window lock is constructed of extruded aluminum with a non-marring vinyl insert and a steel thumbscrew, and it comes in a milled aluminum finish. The design of this lock is manufactured to fit on older style, metal framed windows – usually of single pane glass. These locks will not work with modern vinyl windows, as the vinyl inserts have only a narrow 1/4 inch opening. For vinyl windows consider using Prime-Line parts U 9809 or U 10547. Once the lock has been mounted and hand-tightened, finish by tightening thumbscrew with pliers to securely lock windows in closed or ventilating positions. These locks are easy to install and are used by many to increase the security of their home.
