Swing check valves are used to block back pressure that could damage these systems. Designed from brass, these swing check valves are built to automatically allow flow in the forward direction and block back pressure when water flows in the reverse direction. When the fluid flows in the direction indicated on the valve body, the flap opens on the hinge to allow water to pass through. When the flow stops, the weight of the flap automatically closes and prevents backflow.
