HD Supply Keeps the Presidents Cup Safe!
The Challenge
The Presidents Cup is a series of men's golf matches between a team representing the United States and an International Team representing the rest of the world minus Europe. Europe competes against the United States in a similar but considerably older event, the Ryder Cup.
The Presidents Cup has been held biennially since 1994 and is now held in odd numbered years. It is hosted alternately in the United States and in countries represented by the International Team.
This year's Presidents Cup was played October 8-11 in Incheon, South Korea. The tournament organizers needed some protective cushioning for the Presidents Cup trophy and its case. The trophy makes appearances throughout the year all over the world.
"The Presidents Cup trophy is a valuable and prestigious trophy. We have worked with Bucky and HD Supply in the past on similar projects, and they have always been able to help provide us with a solution."

The Solution
We partnered with Cellofoam and Eric Hornabacher. HD Supply Account Executive, Bucky Flye drove the Trophy down to Orlando so that custom packaging could be developed. They took the measurements of the trophy and the case. We determined how many layers were needed to make sure the trophy was secured and protected. The layers are based on "capture" points based on shapes and edges of the trophy. Once we had the layers and measurements, we were able to create the foam inserts in an accurate and precise manner.
The Result
A customized space was created that encapsulates the entire trophy and case, and keeps the trophy secure and protected.
"HD Supply was able to provide us with a custom design that will ultimately protect the Presidents Cup trophy in its world travels."
